The Government approves the Royal Decree on regulatory innovation in the electricity sector

It also establishes a system for monitoring evidence, cases of termination and suspension, and issues related to regulatory learning derived from these initiatives.

Some examples of pilot projects that were presented to the specific Expression of Interest launched by MITECO on sandboxes are energy aggregators, which would serve to transpose the internal market Directive; storage, to adapt regulation to needs and ensure an economically viable business model; and flexibility mechanisms for the electricity sector, which, specifically, could be demand management services. The approval of this Royal Decree allows compliance with the provisions of reform 4 of component 8 of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan, “Electrical infrastructure, promotion of smart networks and deployment of flexibility and storage.
