Sentences of up to 74 years in prison for the largest human trafficking mafia dismantled in Madrid
The Provincial Court of Madrid has sentenced the members of the largest human trafficking mafia dismantled in the Community of Madrid to sentences of between 4 and 74 years.More than twenty Nigerian members of the group have been convicted. Some of them reached agreements with the prosecutor in the trial held last October, while another 3 members are missing, among them those considered leaders of the corrupt network.
For the trial, the Community of Special Data Madrid had to call a public competition for translators and interpreters due to the high number of accused , according to legal sources.
In the ruling, the magistrates sentence three of the 24 defendants to sentences between 4 and 74 years in prison , with the maximum sentence being 20 years in prison.

The convictions are for crimes oftrafficking in human beings for the purposes of sexual exploitation, crimes of prostitution, illegal immigration, crime of document falsification and cooperation with a criminal organization.

The group would have been recruiting young women in Nigeria since 2014, including minors, to bring them to Spain, promising them a better life in Europe. After being subjected to voodoo rituals, to control them and restrict their will, bringing them to Spain and forcing them to reside in the homes of members of the network.
In these homes they were forced to practice prostitution and hand over the profits obtained to those responsible for the mafia . Also, different members of the network and people who collaborated with the group forced the victims to move to Ibiza where they continued to be forced into prostitution.
